ORIGINALITY AND RESEARCH INTEGRITY

Plagiarism Policy

JIEDI is committed to protecting originality, proper attribution, and integrity in scholarly publication.

≤25%
GENERAL SIMILARITY STANDARD

Maximum Overall Similarity: 25%

Bibliographies, correctly formatted quotations, standard terminology, and other justified exclusions may be removed from the similarity calculation during editorial evaluation.

Policy Statement

Journal of Inclusive Education and Digital Innovation (JIEDI) requires all submitted manuscripts to be original and free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and unauthorised reproduction of copyrighted material.

Authors must appropriately acknowledge all ideas, statements, data, images, tables, instruments, and other materials obtained from external sources. Direct quotations must be clearly identified and accompanied by accurate citations and references.

Forms of Plagiarism

Direct Plagiarism
Copying text or other material from a source without quotation marks, acknowledgement, or proper citation.
Mosaic Plagiarism
Combining copied phrases, sentence structures, or ideas from several sources without adequate attribution.
Improper Paraphrasing
Rewriting another person’s work with only minor changes while retaining the original meaning or structure without citation.
Self-Plagiarism
Reusing substantial parts of an author’s previously published work without transparent acknowledgement or proper citation.
Data Plagiarism
Using another researcher’s data, results, instruments, figures, or tables without permission and appropriate attribution.
Translation Plagiarism
Translating material from another language and presenting it as original work without citing the original source.

Similarity Screening Process

1
Initial screening
Submitted manuscripts are screened using similarity-detection software before being sent for peer review.
2
Editorial assessment
Editors examine the similarity report to distinguish legitimate matches from unattributed copying or inappropriate text reuse.
3
Author clarification or revision
Authors may be asked to revise problematic passages, improve paraphrasing, correct citations, or provide an explanation.
4
Final editorial action
The editor determines whether the manuscript may proceed, requires revision, should be rejected, or requires further ethical investigation.

Interpretation of Similarity Results

A similarity percentage does not automatically prove or disprove plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the location, nature, pattern, and source of each match. A manuscript with similarity below 25% may still be rejected if it contains unattributed copying, while a manuscript with a justified similarity level may be evaluated after legitimate exclusions are applied.

The final assessment is therefore based on academic judgement rather than solely on the numerical similarity score.

Editorial Actions

Finding Possible Action
Minor citation or paraphrasing problems Returned to the author for correction
Excessive similarity without clear evidence of deliberate misconduct Major revision or resubmission required
Substantial plagiarism or duplicated publication Manuscript rejection
Plagiarism identified after publication Investigation, correction, retraction, or other appropriate notice
Repeated or intentional misconduct Rejection, submission restriction, and notification to relevant institutions where appropriate

Artificial Intelligence and Originality

Artificial intelligence tools must not be used to disguise plagiarism, generate fabricated citations, manipulate data, or reproduce copyrighted material without permission. Authors remain responsible for verifying the originality, accuracy, attribution, and legality of all submitted content.

Substantive use of generative artificial intelligence in preparing the manuscript must be transparently disclosed in accordance with JIEDI’s publication ethics policy.

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts before submission. Submission to JIEDI constitutes a declaration that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously in substantially the same form, is not under consideration by another publication, and appropriately acknowledges all sources and contributors.

Reporting Suspected Plagiarism

Suspected plagiarism in a submitted or published article may be reported to the JIEDI Editorial Office at contact@vidyaalvira.com . Reports should identify the relevant article, original source, matching material, and supporting evidence.
