LOCKSS
Digital Archiving and Preservation
ECFi: Journal of Economics and Islamic Finance is committed to ensuring the long-term availability, accessibility, and integrity of its published scholarly content. The journal implements digital preservation through the following archiving systems:
1. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
ECFi utilises the LOCKSS system to establish a distributed digital archiving network among participating libraries. The LOCKSS programme enables participating institutions to collect, preserve, and provide access to permanent copies of the journal’s published content for restoration and long-term preservation purposes.
Further information is available at https://www.lockss.org/.
2. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
ECFi also uses the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which provides digital preservation services for journals managed through Open Journal Systems (OJS). PKP PN securely preserves eligible journal content and ensures that published articles remain accessible in the event of data loss, system failure, or discontinuation of the journal’s website.
Further information is available at https://pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/.
Through the implementation of LOCKSS and PKP PN, ECFi supports the secure, decentralised, and sustainable preservation of its scholarly content. These systems help protect published articles against digital loss and ensure their continued availability to researchers, readers, and the wider academic community.
