Author Guidelines
Journal Pharmaceutical Innovation and Development (JPID)
Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the JPID manuscript template. These guidelines describe the required manuscript format and organization. Before submission, authors should ensure that the manuscript is original, clearly written, and relevant to pharmaceutical research, innovation, and development.
1. General Manuscript Preparation
1. Prepare the manuscript in Microsoft Word format, preferably .docx, using the JPID template.
2. Use A4 paper with a top margin of 2 cm and bottom, left, and right margins of 3 cm.
3. Use Book Antiqua, 12 pt, with single line spacing for the main text. Retain the paragraph layout provided in the template.
4. The main manuscript should contain 8–15 pages, excluding abstracts and references.
5. Provide abstracts in both English and Indonesian. Use clear, consistent academic language throughout the manuscript.
6. Use uppercase, bold, Book Antiqua 12 pt for the main section headings.
7. Remove instructional text, sample content, and placeholder information from the template before submission. DOI and editorial dates are completed by the editorial team.
2. Title, Authors, and Affiliations
Title: Provide a clear and informative title of no more than 15 words. Use Book Antiqua, 14 pt, bold, centered. The title should accurately reflect the main topic of the study.
Author names: Provide the names of all authors in Book Antiqua, 11 pt, following their agreed publication order. Use superscript numbers to link authors to their affiliations where appropriate.
Affiliations: State the department or study program, institution or university, and country for each author. Use Book Antiqua, 9 pt.
Email addresses: Provide author email addresses in Book Antiqua, 9 pt, and clearly identify the corresponding author.
3. Abstracts and Keywords
Provide an English abstract followed by an Indonesian abstract. Each abstract should contain 150–250 words and be clear, concise, and descriptive. Include the study background or scope, objective, methods, principal results, and conclusion. Use Book Antiqua, 10 pt, with single line spacing. Both versions should communicate the same essential information.
Provide 3–5 keywords or key phrases after each abstract, separated by commas. Use Book Antiqua, 10 pt, italic. Select terms that represent the pharmaceutical topic, intervention or material, methods, or principal outcome of the study.
4. Manuscript Structure
a. Introduction / Pendahuluan
Present the background, research problem, relevant literature, and findings of previous studies. Explain the knowledge gap, novelty, and objective of the study. Support scientific statements with appropriate citations.
b. Research Methods / Metode Penelitian
Describe the study design, setting, materials or study population, sampling procedures, data collection, and data analysis in sufficient detail to support reproducibility.
For experimental pharmaceutical studies, identify relevant materials, reagents, equipment, experimental conditions, controls, and analytical procedures. For clinical, community, or survey research, describe participant selection, instruments, outcome measures, and analysis. Where ethical approval or informed consent applies, report the relevant approval details and consent procedures. Review manuscripts should explain how literature was searched, selected, and synthesized.
c. Results and Discussion / Hasil dan Pembahasan
Present findings in a logical sequence aligned with the research objectives and methods. Use tables and figures where they clarify the results. Explain the findings, compare them with relevant studies, and discuss their pharmaceutical significance. Address study limitations and avoid conclusions that extend beyond the evidence.
d. Conclusion / Kesimpulan
Provide a concise narrative conclusion that answers the research objective and summarizes the main findings and their implications. Avoid bullet points and numbered lists. Recommendations for further research may be included where justified.
e. References / Daftar Pustaka
Use the American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style, 7th edition. Manage citations and references using Mendeley or Zotero. Ensure that every cited work appears in the reference list and every listed reference is cited in the manuscript. Arrange entries alphabetically and provide complete, accurate bibliographic information, including DOI or source URL where applicable.
5. Tables and Figures
Place tables and figures near their first discussion in the manuscript, following the template. Number tables and figures separately using consecutive Arabic numerals. Put table titles above the tables and figure captions below the figures. Use Book Antiqua, 12 pt, for titles and captions. Refer to every table and figure in the text.
Use editable tables and legible figures. Explain abbreviations, symbols, and units in the relevant notes or captions. Cite the source of reproduced or adapted material and obtain permission where required.
6. Scientific Terminology
Use consistent terminology and units. Define nonstandard abbreviations at first mention in each abstract and again in the main text. Use appropriate scientific nomenclature and italicize scientific species names. Identify medicines, ingredients, and analytical methods clearly enough to avoid ambiguity.
7. Submission and Revision
Submit the manuscript through the JPID online submission system. Ensure that the metadata entered during submission matches the manuscript, including the title, author names, affiliations, abstracts, and keywords. When revisions are requested, submit a revised manuscript and a response explaining how the editorial and reviewer comments have been addressed.
Submission Preparation Checklist
